More people have been looking to move to San Antonio in 2022.(Especially from Austin!) And San Antonio rents aren’t dropping. From finding your perfect new home to negotiating rent prices, searching for an apartment in San Antonio can be quite the experience. Taking inspiration from our sister publication SFGate in San Francisco, MySA is looking at local properties showcasing the best, worst, and everything in between here in the Alamo City. Let’s guess the rent.
The Parkview Apartments at 118 Funston Place are surrounded by some of the best green space and walking trails you’ll find near Central San Antonio, like Brackenridge Park. With its retro fixtures and pastel splashes, this two-bedroom apartment gives me sassy spinster in the late 50s and early 60s vibes.
But how much will you pay to live in this mid-century apartment?
Let’s jump in.

The wood flooring is always a nice touch and the multiple windows really brightens the place up.
CraigslistFirst off. Windows. And plenty of them. The wall of windows really brightens up the entryway/living room of this apartment. The light fixture alone makes me want to go shopping for Harry Bertoia-esque lounge chairs at some antique shop.

I hope you like the pastel tiles. Because there is quite a bit.

Now we reach the pastels. The dark mauve and pale yellow tiles accented with a green wall could be a deal-breaker for some. (Not me because I’m weird). We still have to see the price. Let’s keep going.

That dining nook is perhaps the most mid-century thing in this apartment.
CraigslistI swear they filmed a mid-50s TV show here. This custom dining fixture is probably more mid-century than the entire apartment. It’s definitely a throwback.

That pale pink is giving me horror movie vibes.
CraigslistNow we’ve got pale pink and blue tiles. There’s something about this combination that throws off the vibes of the restroom. Maybe it’s just the angle of this picture too. But the bathroom appears to do the job.

More windows please.
CraigslistAnd then we have the bedroom, which is pretty plain. It could use more windows.
The listing says the apartment is only one mile away from Central Market. So how much will you pay for this 950-square-foot mid-century flat?
The listing says it will cost $1,150 a month. The median rent of a two-bedroom in the area is $1,400 according to Zumper. Is this a steal?
